Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Teknoiq ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Alo Driver mobile application (the "App") to provide ride-hailing services to passengers on the Alo Taxi platform.

1. Introduction

Alo Driver is the driver-side companion to the Alo Taxi ride-hailing service. Drivers use the App to receive ride requests, navigate to passengers, complete trips, track earnings, and communicate with riders and support. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

The data controller responsible for your information is Teknoiq, based in Iraq, Baghdad, Doraa.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information, only as necessary to operate the service:

Information you provide

  • Account information: full name, phone number, email, date of birth, profile photo, password.
  • Driver verification documents: national ID, driver's licence, vehicle registration, insurance, and any other documents required by local law or by Alo Taxi.
  • Vehicle information: make, model, year, colour, plate number.
  • Payment & payout details: bank account, mobile wallet, or other payout information you provide for receiving earnings.
  • Support communications: messages and files you send to our support team or to riders through the App.

Information collected automatically

  • Location: precise GPS location (foreground and background) while you are online and accepting rides.
  • Trip data: pickup and drop-off points, route taken, distance, duration, fare, ratings, cancellations.
  • Device & technical data: device model, operating system version, language, unique device identifiers, IP address, mobile network, app version, crash logs, performance diagnostics.
  • Push notification tokens: a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token used to deliver ride requests and alerts.

3. Location Data (Important)

Alo Driver requires access to your precise location, including background location, in order to function. We use location data to:

  • Match you with nearby ride requests.
  • Allow riders and our support team to see your live position on a map during an active trip.
  • Calculate distance and fare, and create accurate trip records.
  • Provide turn-by-turn navigation (via Google Maps, Waze, or Google Navigation).
  • Detect fraud, lost items, and resolve safety incidents.
Background location: The App continues to collect your location while it is in the background only while you are online and available for trips, or while a trip is in progress. When you go offline, background location collection stops. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings, but doing so will prevent you from receiving ride requests.

4. Device Permissions We Request

The App requests the following Android permissions. Each is used only for the purpose described:

Keep your location and the trip session active while the App is in the background.

Communicate with our servers and third-party services.
Phone (Dial)
Open your dialler to call a rider or support — we never place calls automatically.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • Operate the App and connect you with riders.
  • Verify your identity and eligibility to drive on the Alo Taxi platform.
  • Process payments and payouts, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries.
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and safety incidents.
  • Send service notifications, security alerts, and important announcements.
  • Improve the App through analytics, crash reports, and performance monitoring.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests.

6. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following cases:

  • With riders: your first name, profile photo, vehicle details, plate number, rating, and live location during an active trip.
  • With service providers who process data on our behalf (cloud hosting, push notifications, mapping, analytics, payment processing) under contractual confidentiality.
  • For legal reasons: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Teknoiq, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate safeguards.
  • With your consent for any other purpose.

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services. Each provider has its own privacy policy:

  • Google Maps Platform — maps, geocoding, and navigation.
  • Firebase (Google) — Cloud Messaging (push notifications), crash reporting, and analytics.
  • Waze / Google Navigation — optional turn-by-turn navigation when you choose to open them.
  • Payment / payout providers — to disburse your earnings.

When you use these services through the App, the relevant provider may receive information such as your IP address, device identifiers, and location, governed by their own privacy policies.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your driver account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. Trip records and financial transactions are typically retained for the period required by Iraqi law. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), restricted access controls, and secure storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential.

10. Your Rights & Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent, including by revoking device permissions.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection authority.

11. Children's Privacy

Alo Driver is intended for licensed drivers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such information without verified parental consent or legal basis, we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
